The artist

Lydmyla Baltakova was born in Bilyske, Ukraine in 1966.

Lydmyla´s deep interest to art developed during her university studies in the capital city of Kiev where she attended studies for food technologies. Inspired and under the influence of artists such as Monet, Alechinsky and Vrubel, the passion for art led her to the circle of artists and art professors . Soon after finishing her studies in Kiev she moved to Crimea to start taking private lessons with professor Larissa Larushina who was teaching in the Art Academy in Yalta.

In 1998 she was invited to come and give an exhibition of her work in Brussels, Belgium followed by another exhibition in Antwerp.Short after she decided to move to Belgium and continue her career there. She has worked and studied in Antwerp Art Academy under professor Luc Coppart.


Aqcuiring two different art education both Soviet and Western has enriched Ludmyla and inspired her through her work.

Ludmyla has found her comfort and passion in drawing a human figure, mostly woman figure. Through her drawings she tries to reflect the mood, emotions and inner state of a woman. As for techniques she likes to play with light and shades.
